ABOUT
Sydney is an actor, intimacy coordinator, and writer based in Chicago.
Growing up in a musically inclined and arts-loving family, Sydney understood the importance of connection through the arts from a young age.
Her first exposure to the stage was a form of grief therapy–and through her shy stupor, she swore up and down she’d only do that one production of Seussical the Musical in which she performed as a “Little Who”. That oath turned into a BFA in Acting from Ball State University many years later.
After earning her degree, Sydney expanded her focus to Intimacy Coordination, training with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators International (IDC) and mentoring under Greg Geffrard, a respected Chicago-and-beyond-based intimacy professional. She credits Greg for laying the foundation of her evolving skills and remains committed to creating safer, more collaborative artistic spaces.
Sydney’s acting credits span stage and screen, including work with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Gift Theatre, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Interrobang Theatre Project, Chicago Dramatists, and GhostBat Productions. Her training includes classes at The Howard Fine Acting Studio in Hollywood, Vagabond School of the Arts, and Acting Studio Chicago. Passionate about developing new works, Sydney thrives on the entire creative process, whether delving into cutting-edge material or uncovering new depths in known works.
As an intimacy coordinator, Sydney has worked with organizations such as GhostBat Productions, DePaul University’s School of Cinematic Arts, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Oil Lamp Theater, Babes with Blades, Art4, Kalliope & Co., and Los Angeles-based director James Francis Flynn. Her mission extends beyond the stage or set—she is dedicated to empowering others to advocate for themselves, fostering a more equitable and inclusive entertainment industry. She believes deeply in reshaping the narratives we internalize, particularly regarding intimacy, authenticity, and representation in media.
Sydney’s writing further amplifies her commitment to connection and advocacy. As the creator of the Substack Reality Check, she explores topics ranging from sexual health and societal norms to the artist’s journey with brutal honesty and vulnerability. Her work has been featured in publications such as The Everygirl and PSYN, as well as other online platforms, offering readers a bridge between the personal and the universal.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Sydney cherishes time spent with friends in Chicago coffee shops, strolling along California beaches, traveling the world with her husband, and indulging her family-given love of Christmas decorations year-round.
